Legislative Update #1

2026 Is A Go!!

Greetings from Lincoln! We’ve just finished Day 3 of this 60-Day session, and it’s been a whirlwind for me to say the least! After 3 days, we’ve seen 252 pieces of legislation introduced. There are 514 pieces carried over from 2025; so do the math, and you can see we’re piling on fast! The first major order of business will be Monday morning at 9:00 when the Executive Board will have a hearing on LR282, a resolution that seeks to expel Senator Dan McKeon from the Legislature. A preview of the coming vote came yesterday as they got 40 votes to suspend the rules for an expedited hearing on the matter. The debate and vote will happen mid-week assuming the committee votes to advance it on Monday. Other than that little thing, next week will be reserved mostly for bill introduction and some procedural motions and votes. I, on the other hand, will be continuing to rack up steps on my Apple Watch!
